I’m done analyzing my games and tracking my results in a table as Simon Webb described to do in “Chess for Tigers”. Some of the information that I got was a little surprising to me.
With White:
After 1.e4 I will see the Sicilian 60% of the time.
Half of my wins as white were due to an [...]

Well, not the best games I’ve played. But I had a good time. I made a new friend and it was an entire weekend devoted to chess, so it couldn’t have been too terrible. Best of all I learned a lot from this tourney.
Tourney Lessons Learned
My chess improvement is going to take a good long while, [...]

So the pressure’s on God wants me to improve my play and win my last two games otherwise he will visit even more horrendous plaugues upon the city of Tucson. Round 4 started late due to the weather the night before. A few people hadn’t finished their games when the power was lost so round [...]

I play what I think is a pretty good opening. He plays the London which if you defend passively you can find yourself easily overrun and [...]

This was obviously a problem for me on Saturday as apparently two of my opponents had no idea that I was planning on winning all of my games this weekend! After the days festivities I finished 2.5 (+2 -1 =1) for the tournament. I beat a 1520, lost to a 1595 (oh so many rating [...]

Well, I have one more week to get ready for Ye Olde Pueblo Tournament in Tucson. What’s really sad is that I’m on vacation starting today. What kind of geek takes a week’s vacation before a chess tournament? This situation is so bad that nerds won’t even hang out with me now. In my defense I took the vacation because [...]

I have a problem, I’ve had it for a long time but it didn’t become apparent to me until I posted a comment on Warheits blog . I recommended a book to him that I thought would help him out. Apart from most of us admitting that we probably have too many chess books, and that recommending [...]
